In search for inspiration
Follow the interesting ‘statue route’ based on the interesting history of Bonifatius and visit the famous chapel ‘Bonifatiuskapel’ .
In the city of Drachten you find the previous monastery of Karmel which is nowadays a meeting point for study, relaxation, and culture-historical exploring.
Another centre is situated in a church in the small town of Boksum and is called: Loft.
Here you will find peace of mind and inspiration. You can participate in several spiritual workshops and in conjunction with a concert or workshop you can also spend the night here. ‘Loft’ has seven rooms furnished with several themes.

Art
For a lot of people Friesland is synonym for inspiration and a great number of expressive artists have already discovered the province. They transformed empty churches into a studio or gallery which you will find throughout the small hillock villages.
Painters, potters, sculptors and writers create their art with inspiration from the stunning landscapes.

Monastery path and Pilgrims tour
For those who enjoy walking Friesland offers themed tours around monasteries and pilgrimages. We recommend the Monastery path and the Jabikspaad path, which goes from St. Jacobi parish (Friesland) to Hasselt in the province of Overijssel. It is almost similar to a real pilgrim’s tour.
Or walk the Monastery path which runs from Dokkum to Smalle Ee (near Drachten).
This path is 42 kilometres filled with peace. It is symbolic to life; the starting point to the end.
