The ‘Elfstedentocht' is the long-distance ice-skating event that has captured the imagination of the Frisians, the entire country and other skating enthusiasts all over the world.
Originally the Frisian Eleven Cities tour is done by ice-skates. For the last 10 years as it didn’t really freeze enough during the winter period the famous tour could not be organised. The last Eleven Cities skating tour was in 1997. Still there are many other ways to enjoy the eleven pearls of Friesland!
